HOMEMADE BARBECUE SAUCE + COLESLAW
Over the Easter holidays some friends came over and we ate pulled pork burgers (delicious!) Neil also made barbecue sauce and coleslaw to serve with it, and everything tasted so good together. To make the coleslaw, we just used:
Cabbage
Carrot
Red onion
Lime juice
Salt + pepper
and basically chopped the ingredients up then added the lime juice and salt and pepper.
To make the sauce, we mixed the following in a pan (not exact measurements here, Neil just added everything to taste)
Balsamic vinegar
Red wine vinegar
Tomato sauce
Brown sugar
Grainy mustard
We served them both in le parfait jars which looked pretty on the table, then we sealed them up and kept them in the fridge for a while to dip into.

yum! I've never made my own BBQ sauce, but I love homemade ketchup! I'll have to give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteHomemade ketchup sounds really good!
DeleteLooks great! We devoured a vat of home made coleslaw at the weekend too, and I love home made bbq sauce. Love your serving idea too!
ReplyDeleteYum! What recipe did you use for the pulled pork?
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
DeleteWe started with this recipe - http://pinterest.com/pin/25614291603099092/ (found on Pinterest of course!) for the basic ingredients. We don't have a slow cooker so we just cooked the meat in the oven on a really low heat for around 7-8 hours. It seems a long time but it was worth it!
Thanks Kirsteen, I'm so going to try this!
